We are seeking a talented and experienced Womenswear Designer with proven experience in licensing and branded apparel, as well as a strong understanding of the off-price retail market. In this role, you will create trend-driven collections that align with brand objectives and address the specific requirements of off-price retailers. The ideal candidate will bring a creative mindset, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of designing for these specialized markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Trend Research and Design:
    • Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, fabrics, and silhouettes that appeal to off-price retailers.
    • Develop seasonal concepts and collections aligned with licensing and branded apparel strategies.
    • Create compelling sketches, CADs, and technical packages for production.
  • Licensing Collaboration:
    • Work closely with licensing partners to ensure brand guidelines are met while delivering fresh, innovative designs.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align on product development and marketing strategies.
  • Product Development and Execution:
    • Oversee the development process, from initial concept through final approval, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
    • Partner with technical design and production teams to resolve fit and construction issues.
  • Retailer Engagement:
    • Develop and present design concepts tailored to the needs of off-price retailers, ensuring alignment with market demands and retailer requirements.
    • Adjust designs based on retailer feedback while maintaining brand integrity.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work with sales, merchandising, and marketing teams to develop cohesive collections that support business objectives.
    • Monitor performance of designs in the off-price market, leveraging data and feedback to inform future collections.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of womenswear design experience, preferably with a focus on licensing and branded apparel.
  • Strong experience designing for off-price retailers, with a proven track record of creating commercially successful collections.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) and other design tools.
  • Excellent understanding of fabrics, trims, and garment construction.
  • Strong trend forecasting and market analysis skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creative, detail-oriented, and highly collaborative.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

Compensation/Benefits:

  • The approximate annual base salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $100,000.00, which can vary based on role requirements, skill set, and years of experience.
