Housing Navigator

Kansas City, MO. Rose Brooks Center, a non-profit domestic violence agency, seeks a full-time, Housing Navigator whose primary role is to provide step by step support to survivors of domestic violence who present to the region’s Coordinated Entry System (CES) for homelessness diversion and housing assistance. This position is responsible for conducting outreach to, and coordinated entry assessments with, survivors at Rose Brooks Center, at other victim service agencies, and at other coordinated entry access points. The person in this position will provide assistance through all stages of the housing process (housing search, application, inspection and placement) to survivors referred through or diverted from the coordinated entry system. Other responsibilities include identifying, developing and maintaining relationships with local property managers/owners to help mitigate barriers to housing and expedite housing placement. The Housing Navigator reports to the Director of Housing and Economic Advocacy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field or commensurate work experience.
  • Two years Case Management experience, preferably in a domestic violence agency
  • Thorough knowledge of domestic violence dynamics and best practices, community resources and housing programs, preferably knowledge of Dept of Housing and Urban Development Guidelines
  • Ability to demonstrate culturally competent practices
  • Demonstrated skills in time management, organization and prioritization
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with others, both internally and externally
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with community partners
  • Proficient use of Windows operating system and programs
  • Ability to function independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Ability to maintain accurate, timely documentation of services
  • Valid Driver’s license and automobile insurance
  • Bilingual proficiency in English/Spanish
  • Knowledge of/experience in Trauma Informed Care/crisis response, and working with survivors of domestic/sexual violence trauma
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, facilitate and evaluate options and services required to meet a client’s identified goals, as related to securing housing

WORK HOURS:

Full-time, exempt position. Minimum 40-hrs per week, requiring up to two evenings per week to accommodate participants’ schedules, and could include some week-end hours. This is classified as an in-person position. This position requires the ability to share a workspace/office environment with others.

Compensation:  This position falls into a salary range starting at $46,000 annually (exempt)
