Job Title and Salary Range: 

Installation Technician, Level 1 - $50,000-$60,000

General Purpose of Job:

Responsible for successful installation, setup, and configuration of assigned tasks, including IT, AV, and IoT systems and equipment, focused on delivering on company standards, every time, based on Techmenity’s company principles document. This role is a field installation position, requiring travel throughout the NYC area. 

Essential Functions:

Perform on-site installations of IT, AV, and IoT equipment including but not limited to, TVs, universal remote controls, home theater systems, wireless audio systems, surveillance systems, entry-level wireless and wired networking equipment, IoT devices, and controls.

Mount equipment securely and professionally, ensuring adherence to safety standards and client specifications.

  • Run and terminate cabling, ensuring proper organization and management of wires.
  • Configure and program technology systems following installation to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during the installation and post-installation phases.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to ensure project goals and timelines are met.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installations, including diagrams, configurations, and client-specific requirements.
  • Provide training and technical support to clients on the use and maintenance of installed systems.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines throughout all installations.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to technology installations.
  • Lead and execute assigned AV projects from conception to completion. Including but not limited to: 
  • Provide project updates and progress reports on a regular basis.
  • Verify work performed meets company standards/principles, including proper testing, and client tutorials.
  • Create and maintain meticulous project-related documentation, including client systems and job details.
  • Contribute to a dynamic and creative work environment where employees are trusted to communicate openly, perform at their highest level, make valuable contributions to the team, and meet rigorous expectations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Proven experience in technology installations, including IT, AV, and IoT systems. Including but not limited to:
    • Extensive experience with the use of power tools.
    • AV rack tracing and troubleshooting.
    • Cable terminating, toning, and testing.
    • Ability to read and follow blueprints & architectural drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of installation practices, mounting techniques, and cabling standards.
  • Ability to configure various technology systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team and interact with clients.
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions from a supervisor.
  • Physical stamina to work on your feet for extended periods and lift heavy equipment.
  • Flexibility to work outside of regular working hours and adapt to project-based schedules.
  • Friendly and precise communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Easy adaptability to a wide range of clients and job sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry certifications related to technology installations, such as CompTIA A+, AVIXA CTS, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with audio-visual control systems (e.g., Savant, Control4, Crestron).
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure and protocols.
  • Knowledge of autoCAD, Portal, RevIT, or FreshDesk/any other ticketing system.
  • OSHA 30 construction certification.
