We are seeking a contract UI/UX Designer specializing in threat intelligence. In this role, you will collaborate with product and developers to create engaging, effective, and user-centric interfaces for our threat intelligence products. Your designs will help users better understand threat data, make actionable decisions, and streamline workflows for proactive cybersecurity defense. You will leverage your understanding of threat intelligence to translate technical content into clear, visual designs that optimize the user experience for both novice and expert users.

With zero network impact and zero agents, SixMap automatically discovers all Internet-facing assets across IPv4 and IPv6 to deliver the most comprehensive external attack surface visibility. The platform identifies vulnerabilities, correlates proprietary and open-source threat intelligence, and provides actionable insights to defend against imminent threats with supervised proactive response capabilities. The SixMap team brings deep intelligence community expertise and best practices to the defense of both U.S. Federal agencies and Fortune 500 corporations.

Responsibilities

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • User-Centered Design:
      • Conduct user research, interviews, and usability testing with cybersecurity professionals and stakeholders to understand the needs, pain points, and workflows specific to threat intelligence.
      • Create personas, user journeys, and wireframes that inform design decisions and ensure a seamless user experience.
    • UI/UX Design & Prototyping:
      • Design intuitive user interfaces for threat intelligence dashboards, alerts, reports, and visualizations that convey complex data clearly and effectively.
      • Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for both web and mobile applications using industry-standard design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
      • Focus on usability and responsiveness to ensure designs work across various platforms and devices.
    • Data Visualization:
      • Translate complex threat data into clear, meaningful visualizations (e.g., graphs, charts, maps) that help users quickly identify trends, anomalies, and threats.
      • Apply best practices for presenting security data to ensure clarity, legibility, and quick insights while maintaining accuracy and context.
    • Usability Testing & Iteration:
      • Conduct usability testing and gather user feedback to identify design flaws and areas for improvement.
      • Continuously iterate on designs to optimize usability, accessibility, and user satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Requirements:
    • 3+ years of experience in UI/UX design, with a focus on creating designs for security tools, threat intelligence platforms, or other data-heavy applications.
    • A strong portfolio demonstrating your work in designing user interfaces for complex data-driven products, including dashboards, visualizations, and security-focused tools.
    • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.
    • Strong understanding of UI/UX principles, usability, and accessibility best practices.
    • Experience designing data visualizations, with a focus on presenting complex, technical data in an understandable and actionable way.
    • Knowledge of threat intelligence workflows, cybersecurity terminology, and common security tools (e.g., SIEMs, SOARs) is highly desirable.
    • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working in cross-functional teams.
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present and explain design concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Analytical mindset with a keen eye for detail and problem-solving ability.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Able to commit 10-15 hours per week (on-going assignment)
  • Preferred Requirements:
    • Experience designing for security operations centers (SOCs) or working directly with cybersecurity professionals.
    • Understanding of security frameworks, threat modeling, and attack vectors.
    • Knowledge of design systems and creating reusable components for consistency and scalability.
