Job Summary
Works in the control room viewing multiple camera monitors, monitoring alarms, and answering phone for emergency and non-emergency calls. Dispatches Public Safety Officers to incidents and requests in accordance to priority level. Maintains daily dispatch log and monitors Total Maintenance System (TMS) work orders and conducts security equipment checks to assure working order.
Minimum Job Requirements
- CPI - required within 90 days of hire - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
- American Heart Association BLS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
- Active and valid State of Florida driver's license with an approved driving record pursuant to our policy and maintained throughout employment
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Acknowledges and dispatches Public Safety Officer to emergency exit doors and responds to panic alarms/burglar alarms. Enables, disables, and resets emergency doors alarms.
- Assigns/enables/disables badge access levels to employees, contractors, etc. Adds employees, vehicles, & personnel information in badge profiles. Prints new/replacement badges for all NCHS facilities.
- Receives burglar alarm notifications from monitoring companies for all NCHS facilities. Dispatches/cancels Police Department. Monitors cameras to ensure the proper actions or personnel is dispatched.
- Notifies UCC Facilities Managers of burglar alarms and actions taken. Logs burglar alarm in the Public Safety dispatch log.
- Monitors sites of all NCHS facilities for suspicious or unsafe events. Inspects all camera systems to ensure all cameras within the systems are online and recording.
- Reports camera malfunction to leader and places work order. Review, records, files, and burns CD of incidents captured by cameras in all NCHS facilities.
- Monitors fire alarms, communicates with monitoring companies in case of fire and/or troubles in the system. Places fire system on test for repairs, testing or other reasons.
- Dispatches all personnel when a fire alarm is received. Announces using the page system of alarms. Silences and resets panels in Code Red events.
- Works in a high volume incoming call center answering on average 20 - 25 calls per hour with multiple (up to 5) incoming lines. Answers phone calls in a professional and respectful manner.
- Receives emergency calls and dispatches the proper personnel.Contacts Police, Fire, or Rescue departments accordingly depending on the emergency
- Assists visitors with directions on how to get to NCHS facilities.
- Monitors ISENSIX continuously to ensure refrigerator temperature remains in normal range for approximately 150 refrigerators located throughout all NCHS facilities.
- Reports any changes on freezer status to the proper channels to correct the problem. Files work orders with facility operations. Logs corrective actions in the ISENSIX system.
- Receives/sends commands, information, and requests using two way radios. Performs radio checks with Officers.
- Accountable for all the keys assigned to Security department. Maintains a log of keys assigned to non-security staff. Ensures all keys are accounted for at the beginning and end of shift.
- Inspects the Code Orange/Blue pager starting each shift and clears as needed. Dispatches proper staff in case of Code Orange/Blue event.
- Completes check list for each shift. Logs all alarms/escorts on proper form. Updates work orders on proper electronic form.
- Enters smoke alarms and citations log data in the proper excel sheets before and end of each shift.
- Monitors TMS continuously and completes all work orders by end of shift. Updates work orders in TMS and removes when completed.
- Reports malfunctions of equipment to Administrative Assistant.
- Continuously updates daily events log (i.e. accidents).
- Provides continuous supervision, observation of behavioral health patients, and adheres to non-violent crisis intervention strategies (CPI).
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- High school education or equivalent preferred.
- At least 6 months experience in hospital/hotel setting highly preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing in order to carry out and communicate safety instructions.
- Bilingual: English/Spanish highly preferred.
- Ability to multi-task in a high paced stressful environment and keep calm in all situations.
- Proficient in use of computers and printers, and/or ability to learn appropriate software applications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
- Ability to assess emergency situations and control disorderly conduct situations and combative patients.
